Bridging the Gap between Film and Fashion Industries

Writer: Pree Dammond Photograher: Samantha Wilson
Date: August 15th, 2010.

Georgia is one of the many states that have been hit the hardest by harsh economic times.  It's more important now than ever to bridge gaps between small and mid size businesses so that productive business affairs can re-stimulate the growth in Georgia's economy.  Taxing the citizens who have already depleted most of their financial resources is not the answer.  The answer is to encourage growth and development in all sectors of business.

There is room for growth in Georgia's renewed Entertainment sector with the 2008 30% Tax incentive that encourages Production companies to move to Georgia.  There are other state with higher tax incentives; however, Georgia offers a lot in mixed cultures, talents, accessibility to unique scenery and water fronts.  Being less than a few hours from Florida and Georgia Beaches, and being a state that experience all four seasons is exciting to those with creative minds.  States like Georgia are very inspirational when it comes to brainstorming your next film idea, music concept, or business opportunity within the Entertainment Market.

Film is a blooming industry in Georgia as well as the Fashion sector.  With the innovations in Social Media Networks, marketing and researching niche markets have placed small businesses in a great position to brand and spread the word about their endeavors. Fashion Designers are making Atlanta Georgia their home base providing production companies wardrobes, customs, and more for their films.  Independent Film Makers are realizing their dreams through resourcing motivated talent, college interns, volunteers, and the people in the community who never thought that they could be a viable resource in Production.

However, with all the positives it is still a reality that communication gaps still remain.  It is important to network, attend functions, and events that are catered towards your profession and interest.  The quality of the event and those that attend these events is the responsibility of every Actor, Actress, Director, Designer, and Industry Professional.

The Film and Fashion Industries in Georgia have been born.  It is now up to the community to continue to nurture and grow this great opportunity for Georgia to blossom as a true Entertainment State.
